What to expect ?

Prior to your initial consult you will be sent a detailed questionnaire to fill out. You will be asked for a short medical history (to outline any conditions you have had from childhood onwards), for some details about any illnesses in your immediate family and for some information on what you regularly eat and drink. You will be asked to return the questionnaire to the clinic at least 2 days before your first appointment. You will also be asked to bring the results of any medical tests you may have done within the past 3 months and to bring a list of any medications that you are currently taking (prescription or over the counter) together with any vitamins, minerals or other preparations.

Your first visit will take approximately 1½ hours, during which time Jan will work with you to take a detailed case history to help her determine what factors may be affecting your health. Depending on your condition, it may be necessary to perform certain specific laboratory tests. These tests are non-invasive (pin-prick of blood, saliva or urine sample) and will only be performed if deemed absolutely necessary. You are encouraged to be as open as possible during your consultation and to ask any questions you may have. A treatment plan will then be devised for you, depending on your specific individual needs. Jan will explain all aspects of the plan to you and will work with you to ensure that it fits as easily as possible into your daily routine. Any supplements or natural medicines prescribed will take into account any prescription medication you may currently be on. A follow-up consultation is usually required 2 to 3 weeks after the first visit. This usually takes 1 hour. A further consultation may or may not be necessary.

We understand that from time to time things crop up and you may find it necessary to reschedule your appointment. Should this occur, we ask that you give at least 48 hours notice, so that we can give the appointment slot to another patient.

We look forward to welcoming you at Seapoint Clinic of Naturopathic Medicine.
